The winner of the Biochemical Journal Grand Prize was announced by George Banting, Chairman of the Biochemical Journal Editorial Board, as Francesca Mendoza from California State University, Fullerton, CA, for her poster "Characterization of chimeric Rhodobacter sphaeroides and Rhodobacter capsulatus ADPglucose pyrophosphorylases" by F. Mendoza, N. Polder, S. Choe, D. Diaz and C. Meyer. She was presented with a certificate and a cheque for 500 US dollars
