Biochemical Journal Young Investigator Award
Dr Alexandre Yersin
Dr Alexandre Yersin was born in Switzerland, where he obtained a Master’s degree in physics at Lausanne University (2000) and a PhD in biophysics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (2004). He has been awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the Japan Society for Promotion of Science and is currently working at the Tokyo Institute of Technology.
His field of research is the study of ligand – receptor interaction at the single molecule level by atomic force spectroscopy. These experiments allow the measurement of mechanical properties of biomolecules and mapping of single receptors at the surface of living cells. Besides science, Alex’s main interests are traveling and movies.
