Meher Un Nessa
Meher Un Nessa is currently doing her Ph.D. in the Discipline of Biomedical Science, The University of Sydney, Australia. The title of her Ph.D. project is "Studies on drug resistance and drug combination". She is the recipient of an Endeavour Postgraduate Award 2009 given by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations of the Australian Government. She is an international student from Bangladesh, currently on leave from the Khulna University where she occupies the position of Assistant Professorship in the School of Life Science, Khulna University, Bangladesh (since 2000). Her teaching interests include environmental biochemistry, toxicology and xenobiotic metabolism. Her academic qualifications include M.Sc. (1999) and B.Sc. (Honours) (1997) in Biochemistry from the University of Dhaka Bangladesh and M.Sc. (2003) in Applied Biomolecular Technology from the University of Nottingham, U.K. She graduated with distinction in all three degrees. She was awarded a UK Chevening Schorlarship in 2002 for study at Nottingham, and the title of her MSc dissertation was: "Physico-chemical characterization of pectin solution as a vehicle for nasal drug delivery". While in the U.K., she had the opportunity to work in the Research Centre of the West Pharmaceutical Services. Her research interests include: drug metabolism with special reference to anticancer drugs and tumour active natural products.
