Biochemical Journal Young Investigator Award winner
Chitose Kami
Chitose Kami was awarded her PhD in Biological Science in December 2003 for her work in the group of Professor Takayuki Kohchi at the Nara Institute Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan, on "Complementation of phytochrome chromophore-deficient Arabidopsis by expression of phycocyanobilin:ferredoxin oxidoreductase".
After completing her thesis with Professor Kohchi, she stayed in his group to continue her project as a post-doc until November 2005. In December 2005, she joined Professor Christian Fankhauser’s group at the Center for Integrative Genomics, University of Lausanne, as a post-doc. Her work focuses on the function and regulation of Arabidopsis PKS proteins in phytochrome- and phototropin-mediated light signalling.
Chitose was very proud to receive the Biochemical Journal Poster Prize at the recent 25th Annual Missouri Plant Biology Symposium on 28-31 May 2008. She thanks her supervisor, Professor Fankhauser and the other lab member’s for supporting her work.
