Samantha Hindle

Sarah Hindle completed her undergraduate degree at Durham University in 2006 and was awarded a BBSRC-funded Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Sean T. Sweeney at the University of York. During her Ph.D. she developed and characterized a Drosophila model of the childhood neurodegenerative lysosomal storage disorder known as saposin deficiency. This model recapitulates many of the aspects of the human disorder, such as a reduced life span, progressive neurodegeneration and sensorimotor deterioration. She is currently in the final year of her Ph.D. and hopes to obtain a post-doctoral position to continue working in the field of lysosomal storage disorders or neurodegeneration.
