Lahiru Gangoda
Lahiru earned her B.Sc. from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, where she read Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She graduated with a First Class Honours degree, and was employed as a teaching assistant at the Department of Chemistry, University of Colombo. More recently, Lahiru has successfully gained a Masters degree in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics at La Trobe University, Victoria, Australia, completing her research year under the supervision of Professor Leann Tilley. Since then, she has been employed as a research assistant in the Department of Biochemistry in the lab of Professor Nicholas Hoogenraad. She has been awarded a post-graduate research scholarship from La Trobe University and a top-up scholarship from the Co-operative Research Centre for Biomarker Translation (CRC-BT) and is in her first year of the Ph.D. She is supervised by Associate Professor John Silke and Professor David Vaux in the Department of Biochemistry, La Trobe University. Her research project is entitled ‘Analysis of Sharpin mutant mice and the role of Sharpin in the TNF superfamily pathways’.
