An exploration of the mitochondrial respiratory chain and its production of reactive oxygen species, drawing on three manuscripts published by Britton Chance and Alberto Boveris from 1972 to 1980. The pathological damage of reactive oxygen species on biological systems is still an ongoing subject of study today.
